Here's another site that independently discovered the same idea.

Well, what a fortunate coincidence that that site independently accidentally discovered the same idea by chance. How did that website do it? It is interesting how that website developped over time, btw. Maybe the Internet will produce more of those 'ideas' soon.
But when you actually look at it the idea suggested in that samizdat booklet is in no way "the same". It says nothing that was not said much better by Stauffer in the 1950ies.
And the writer himself declares in the 'afterword' of his botch:
"This book is a reprint of my book Et tu Judas? Then fall Jesus! published in 1992.
I have sought to correct some of the more egregious errors and clarify some arguments on the historicity of Christ. In 2001 I became aware of the work of Francesco Carotta in Germany. He has published articles and books which express some similar ideas to mine [beginning in 1988, emphasis and parenthesis mine].
It is not the purpose of the present book to discuss Mr Carotta's theories, this can be done in another place. Mr Carotta is publishing an English version of his work in 2004."

A comparison of the new version (which he wrote after having read Carotta's work) with the old one will show if and how much plagiarism is there.

Unlike most people here the press seems to start noticing Carotta's epoch-making discovery!
See:

Wondering when the first American scholars will come forward.
What will the Pope say, maybe he knew long ago?

Regards,

Caligula, unlike Caesar, actually claimed to be divine. Not only that - note the
dates

Jesus 4BC to 30AD

Caligula 12AD to 41AD

Spooky..... both died young (unlike Caesar) and their dates are
far closer than Jesus' and Caesar's (Caesar having been dead for 40 years
when Jesus was born)

Actually I'm joking but just pointing out how easy this is.

In the Roman Empire, the Emperors were regarded as in some way inheriting the spirit of Caesar - hence they called themselves Caesar - but if we accept the Caesar = Jesus notion then why does the Pope, rather than the emperor, emerge as the head of the Church?

Well said, exile. Reading Carotta in this way is great fun. Note for instance that, by using the Carottian rules of wordjuggling, it is as easy to make out of the name of Carotta the name of Christ or that of Iskariot. Yes, you can even make Iskariot out of Christ and vv.
But serious: for those who want to have a "discussion" with "Juliana": perhaps it might be usefull to know that "she" is Joseph Horvath, co-translator of the book, and co-author of the "review" smallkidtime and of the publisher's press report he mailed today.
On other sites he uses the names Steve, Steve2, Tirones, Peter, Petrus, Thaddaeus, etc.

Well, have fun with him.
Bernard

PS: Sorry Joseph. De naam cheese was al in gebruik, dus heb ik hier maar voor kaas gekozen.

Maybe we can mix it up with another popular book and say Mary Magdalene was Cleopatra. (Wait, did I just give away my bestseller??)

Dear Peter,
I'm afraid you are too late. Francesco already discovered that too: Magdala means "from the tower" and, oh miracle, Cleopatra was burried in a tower! Also the name Magdala comes from Dalmanoutha, the city of Cleopatra. (What Carotta doesn't understand is that it is either the one or the other and that both deductions can't be true, or better can't be meaningfull, at the same time. This is a repetitive error in his thinking).
But let me suggest that you wirte a book on Cleopatra being Mother Mary (Cleopatra = Isis = Mary, the mother goddess), or Mary of Cleophas (CLEOPhAsTRA).

kaas,

don't play such sick games here again!
You want to denounce Mr. Carotta's work. A little Internet search on you reveals the following:
You are Bernard Vermet, the servant of Anton van Hooff who warned people in the Netherlands NOT TO READ 'Was Jezus Caesar?' (what a scholarly attitude that is). Now that the book was successful in the Netherlands you are trying the same with the English edition and you will fail again. As said, the master of Bernard is Anton van Hoof about whom you can read here: http://www.carotta.de/subseite/echo/dzh.html
Or here, where he simply stole a copyrighted picture from Carotta's site:
http://www.skepsis.nl/carotta.html
It's a waste of time to go into this in detail, the bottom line is that van Hoof and his minion are afraid of being exposed for the fools they are.

The best way to reach your goal, Kaas, is to post all across the web what you posted here: http://ephilosopher.com/phpBB_14-act...opic-2055.html
"Warning:
Carotta is not worth a word of attention. Yet, he got a lot in the Netherlands."
Nice, there couldn't be any better promotion for the work!

Hello? Don't you know if a person read all the dreck published, they wouldn't be able to read anything worthwhile? I thank every person who correctly convinces me not to read a book as it is a waste of time.

best,
