Default I know this should be in the lounge but...

This is a thanks and farewell for now.. oh and a question.

First of all thanks for all the detailed and reasoned debate, especially Toto. I came to this site to learn more and ask a few tricky [for me at least] questions and clear up a few tricky issues and my mission is complete. I have been writing/obsessing/ reserching a book that started off in Egypt dealing with the collapse of the New Kingdom and ended up exploring christianity and after ten years I think I have the answer. It is of course my answer and it ticks all my boxes and it is an entirely new take on the subject and you will have to wait until its published to find out what it is. Sorry, I would so love to chuck a whole bowlful of milk, nay a tank as big as a swiming pool, down on the ground to see which of you cats will lick it up [as they say]. But I got to sort it out for the publisher. {saying that I would love to have some form of peer revue prior to final copy if only to avoid any serious errors but at the same time I want to protect my copyright. any suggestions?]

Anyway to avoid being pushed into elsewhere here is the question.

What kind of theory would answer the jesus riddle for you and allow you to move on to new discussions?

I have followed the BCH forum for a year or so and pretty well every angle has been debated and I 'm sure it has always been that way. There is only so much source material. Carriier's new book proposal [as an example] just seems to be more of the same although I am sure it will do the subject justice there are only so many angles on the subject.

I hope that i will be able to offer something new [in due course] but what is missing for the regular skeptics in the evidence as to the nature of te jesus mythistory.

Personally I have had an enlightening time and thanks again but to be honest i never want to pick up that fucking book again or read anymore on Jesus. Ten years of ancient history is enough and its time for me to move on.

[p.s. i may just sneek back and take a brief look at this thread and I will be back to defend my theory]
peace & love
Jules

I don't think there's a shortage of theories about Jesus, the problem is lack of evidence. Until there is more confirmation of the existence or activities of people in the Christian corpus, speculation will continue, as far as I can see.

Christianity is a living religion, so interest in its founders is natural. The Judeo-Christian tradition is a cornerstone of Western culture, so as long as this society exists there will be interest in the Bible imo.
