Default What are Your Credentials?

I thought we could also have a thread similar to Credentials and Experience thread. It would be both informative and entertaining to know who holds what, who has done what in Biblical Studies, criticism, history. archaeology etc etc.

It doesn't have to be what you got from formal education but ANYTHING you have done, been involved in etc that is related to Biblical criticism, history, mythology etc. It can also be something you are currently doing.

Let the show begin.

As a Vorlon, I have been personally responsible for influencing early Judaic religious experiences. I appeared as both Michael the Archangel and the "young man" at Jesus' tomb in GMk. I also played the role of Satan when tempting Jesus.

I also participated in the committeee which created some of the laws in Deuterononmy (mine were the funnier ones - I was a little tipsy on Centaurian Ale at the time!).

Oh yeah, that was my ship that Ezekiel saw!

I have absolutely no formal qualifications in Biblical criticism or history, but I would consider myself at least an informed layman. I've also been volunteering as one of the Secular Web editors for almost a year. I have a BA (Hons) in Development Studies mostly focusing on Politics and Economics. My dissertation was on gender disparities in education in Ghana, which is where I wrote it. I'm currently working as a high school teacher here in Singapore. My current lay interests are in philosophy of science, Biblical archaeology, and economic methodology.

No formal training for me neither. I have a Bsc. in Information Technology and am pursuing an MBA now. I havent read many books on Biblical scholarship but come to my place and you will find files and files of what I call "white paper".

My areas of research include Philosophy, Science and now I am working on a glossary for this forum.

No, no, no, it was my ship!

I'm one of the original Thetans. And you Vorlons still don't know what's coming to you! You've had it pretty easy 'til now... Harrr!

It was our Thetan Scriptures that L. Ron Hubbard got all misinterpreted. In fact, it was all based on a mistranslation of the original Old Thetan.

O, yeah, and I was also running the support operations for Joseph Smith with those Golden Plates, although he knew me as Moroni the Angel.

As L. Ron Hubbard wrote (although this was all a mistranslation),

"How do thetans behave when they suddenly
haven’t got a body? They behave like people.
They will hang around people. They will see a
woman who is pregnant and follow her down
the street. Or they will hang around the
entrance to an accident ward and find some
body that is all banged up and the being that
had that body has taken off or is about to. He
may even pick up this body and pretend to be
somebody’s husband.

Thetans do all sorts of odd things. When a
new body is picked up, if a new body is picked
up at all, is not standardized beyond saying it
usually occurs (unless the thetan got another
idea) two or three minutes after the delivery of
a child from the mother. A thetan usually picks
it up about the time the baby takes its first gasp."

So watch out, Vorlons...

Moroni.

Double-majored in Religion and Psychology at Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois (didn't finish; took an associate-pastor position halfway through); while there, studied Koine Greek, theology, OT and NT literature, and took a wonderfully informative class called Biblical Hermeneutics.

Preached good hearty Wesleyan-Arminian sermons for about a year at a Nazarene church in Minot, North Dakota. Shortly after moving away to continue my education elsewhere, I began to examine the epistemological foundations of Christianity and, not coincidentally, developed an acute case of warranted unbelief.

Always been a history buff, especially in re: Late Antiquity, and since my first stint in college I've avidly studied early church history. Also enjoy stories and storytelling and I still like reading mythology and ancient religious folklore.

Currently in Tucson, AZ, revving up for a new semester at a new school: studying Philosophy at the University of Arizona, with likely emphasis on philosophy of mind / epistemology / truth.

I've created over 110 pages of observations, and fallacies of the modern christian religion. Some of it is thanks to numerous sites across the web that helps aid my study.

I've made a catholic priest question his religion, and a perspetarian pastor persperate because I kept refutting his arguments.

My girlfriend, who's christian, is starting to see what I think, and her parents are getting pretty mad about that. And her dad who's a fundie seems to always get cornered in an argument and condemn me which is never old to hear really.

In another message board, I refute so many fundamentalist's claims and such.

And of course, whenever my girlfriend and I observe something, and she compares it to a cult or another religion, I easily show her the parallel it is to her religion.

Unfortunately no official education, however I do wish to take world-religion during my 2nd semester in college.
