It has been drawn to my attention that Christians and Historicists take the Bible literally.
Christians and Historicists actually take the stories of Jesus literally and claim that Jesus did exist at the time of Pilate when it is known that Jesus was the product of a Ghost and a Virgin in the Bible. Young Earth Creationists, Christians and Historicists have one thing in common--they all believe the Bible must be taken Literally. Historicists argue that Jesus of Nazareth LITERALLY existed even though he walked on the sea, transfigured and resurrected. Only mythicists reject the Bible as mythology with respect to Jesus and vehemently argue that the Bible should NOT be taken literally. Jesus of Nazareth did NOT literally exist at all--the Bible is mythology. |

In Judaism, it's basically backwards. The further back you go, the smarter they were. Maimonides on the "Decline of the Generations" and the Nature of Rabbinic Authority Dr. Kellner makes the case that Maimonides didn't believe that bullshit. Once, I heard a Rabbi say that the Alter Rebbe (Shneur_Zalman_of_Liadi) suggested that since people were getting so stupid they (men) should at least memorize the Torah and do some other shit that is virtually impossible for modern people - at least ordinary shmucks. I haven't been able to confirm this statement but it is thought provoking. |

There were multiple so-called Heretics who rejected the story of Jesus. We can definitely see that Belief in "the bullshit" increases after the 4th century. In the 2nd century the Marcionites used to LAUGH at the Jesus cult. The Jesus story was a big Joke in antiquity. Justin's First Apology LVIII Quote:
