I am thinking about rereading the first book of Roger Zelazny"s Amber series.

I dont follow all taxes as a "sole" cause, I view the taxes as another part of oppression all traditional Jews would have hated. I do include taxes and oppression. I dont put all the blame on Romans either as Bill eludes too.

I follow a Hellenistic division within the socioeconomic classes of the haves and have nots.

To me Jesus fighting the Hellenistic corruption in the temple, makes much more sense then him trying to take on the Romans which I dont find plausible.
