Outspoken (LouisBooth) has a pride problem. He can never admit he was wrong. It also makes him condescend to other posters. I personally think he is one of the best arguments against Fundamentalist Christians. He is a living, breathing strawman for Christian Egoists.

Well, that thread was an experiment. I found a clear, unambiguous, case in which an apparently harmless and innocent misunderstanding had started getting out of hand, and I just decided to find out whether or not he could admit it.

I know it'll seem weird, but I actually sort of sympathize with the mods for shutting down that thread. Would that thread be a problem here? No. But CF *isn't* IIDB. They have a lot of people there who *are* fragile and easily offended... and while I can't speak for the infidels, the Christians, at least, are exhorted to try *not* to offend these people.

Were the innuendoes deeply offensive? Not really. But they *did* violate the sense of the site rules, and the Liberal forum is still "on display" - lots of touchy people just LOOKING for an excuse to try to get it shut down.

So... Just basic common sense would say we shouldn't go out of our way to antagonize people. Similarly, on a board that says "PM people about mod actions", well, at least TRY it before venting so much... *sigh*.

This isn't to say I always agree with them, or that every post they edited is one I would have edited - but I think the degree of complaining here is perhaps disproportionate.

I am particularly annoyed by the insults directed at P4I; she's doing her *job*, folks, and is, entirely on a volunteer, unpaid, basis, trying to make a forum where the liberals can hang up, and keep it "clean" enough that the more extreme fundies won't come 'round with pitchforks and torches. How about a little courtesy? If you have concerns about her decisions, how about you PM her politely, or even, if you don't feel that'll work, PM one of the other mods for the forum to ask for a second opinion?

According to Dave Barry, the reason the Nixon cabinet all found the Lord was because he was serving a seven year term for tax evasion....

Personally, if I were the God these idiot fundamentalists think they worship, I'd want a lawyer to sue them for slander. "No, I didn't murder babies, I don't do that, and I don't hate gay people! Thank you!"

Yes,

He, along with a few others drove a deeper wedge between myself and my Christian upbringings. I've been meaning to start a THANK YOU thread for CF in general 'showing me the light'. I'm curious how many others have become agnostic/lost their faith due to the egotistical, you can't talk about my actions but feel free to question God fundamentalists who reside at that site.

I feel a venting session commminnggg on....
