The fact that "godless" is perceived in such a negative light is just further support for calling the march "Godless Americans...."

Because then when we (I plan to attend, but may not make it) march and show ourselves to be ethical, clean, and moral, we can give the lie to the negative connotation of "godless."

C'mon, galiel. Didn't you like that quote just a teensy bit?

I have my own God, and I think my God finds me incredibly fucking funny. That´s why I chose him as my God.

If II had a banner, I'd certainly go find it and hand out there.

You betcha. If Internet Infidels marched behind a big ol' banner, I'd hang with "my people" too. Not to mention finally getting to meet some of my Secular Web heroes. I'm not generally big on celebrities, but after all his hard work writing for this cause, I'd like Jeff Lowder's autograph and to shake his hand. Actually that's true of a few of the writers here.

OK. I started a new topic to post about all the alternative events that my local group and the Single Atheists group have initiated for the benefit of the godless that are coming.

See the new topic or go here:

"Godless" is absolutely confrontational and abrasive—even more so than atheist.
This is why we have to march. All that 'Godless' means is 'without God'. That's what this is all about. If we let people assign a negative connotation to the name, we let them assign it to us.

Frankly, it's a moot point. It's a bit late to debate this. The march name is set, and it is happening in two weeks.

At this point, the important thing is to have as many people attend as possible, so that a statement can be made that nontheists are significant in numbers and we vote.

Does anyone have an idea of how many will show up for the March?

I'm going with a bunch of people from the York PA area taking a bus for the day... Hope to see some there!

I just checked and 3,810 people have signed the endorsement saying their going. How much it reflects the actual number I don't know.
