Of course, the next scandal will probably be the manipulation of those numbers in the government. If there is a zooming economy, it is one without a boom in jobs. My own working of almost 100 hours of overtime this month might influence the fourth quarter, but maybe not, when you consider that I'm only working extra because my employer has cut way back on the hours of vacation allowable to carry over and my cow-orkers have a lot to burn by Dec. 31. BTW, my employer didn't give any raises in 2003 and the prospects for one or any kind of bonus in 2004 are dismal (first time in 12 years we won't get a bonus). We'll see though... [tap-tap-tap-tap] ... still waiting. Warren in Oklahoma |

Anyway, as for so-called "prophecies", if one writes something semi-plausible in language that's just vague enough, eventually, events will unfold that could be interpreted to fit such "prophecies". No one knows the future! Quote:

You know, there are some fundies who think that George W. Bush may be the anti-Christ, because he aspires to be the Prince of Babylon (by conquering Iraq).

(Slightly more) seriously though, after just re-reading my post there, I feel I left something out. Prediction addendum: Unless, of course, I am correct and he is a troll, in which case, my words will go unseen by him. |

Start counting down.........
I'm back!!!!
I didn't think you guys would keep this thread going. School and work, and other things have been taking my time. Lots of responses that I would get to soon. But I am here to let you know, there is only about a day left-then a swift change, swift victory. What you thought was 'impossible' is about to unfold before your very eyes. Is America ready for shouts of jubilation? So take a look at the time and start counting down the hours, the minutes, the seconds....... BrotherMan: I do not believe the four nations have surrendered yet, nor the nine victories. When it happens it would be quite obvious. |

Vindication

Bush Vindicated by Economic Recovery (Hmm....Interesting choice of a title wouldn't you say?) Friday, October 31, 2003 WASHINGTON — President Bush appeared to have a spring in his step Thursday after news heralded the economy had doubled its rate of growth over this summer and reduced one of his greatest political liabilities heading into an election year. "The economic figures for the third quarter show that the economy grew at an annual rate of 7.2 percent. That's the fastest growth we've had in nearly 20 years. Consumers with extra cash from the tax cuts earlier this year increased their spending at the fastest rate in 15 years," Bush told workers at a factory in Columbus, Ohio. Businesses like the one the president visited have finally started spending more as well, a double dose of encouraging news that lifted the economy and gave Bush license to claim his economic policies have been vindicated. "The tax relief we passed is working. We left more money in the hands of the American people, and the American people are moving this economy forward," Bush said. Though economists differ on how much of a role the tax cut played, no one disputes it was one of several factors that lit a fire under consumers and the economy "Part of it is the refinancing earlier this year. Part of it is because the stock market is doing better and people psychologically feel better. But a decent-sized chunk of this is the tax cut," said Greg Valiere, chief strategist of the Schwab Washington Research Group (search). ---------------- They said it, I didn't. You may say this isn't miraculous, but honestly speaking his opponents did not think this would happen. And what will they say when economy is raised up to higher levels than the Clinton or even Reagan years. I'm guessing you don't think that will happen either right? A word of advice to some of you: try not to always focus on the negative, overlooking the positive. I believe jobs growth will come shortly. And I still think greater things are about to happen that will kick-start the economy. This is merely the beginning. |
