I have always been aware of Radiohead's existence in the music world, but I have never tried listening to one of their albums. I am mainly familiar with the band because of a few songs I've heard on the radio. They are "Creep," "Karma Police," and "Paranoid Android." If I were to assemble a list of my 10 favorite songs, these 3 would certainly be included.
Recently, I heard their new single "There There" and loved it all the same, so this time I thought, 'Hey, why don't I try purchasing an album now?' I have bought Hail to the Thief, and I positively love it. 14 tracks of audio euphoria. I love the talent that each band member brings to the songs--the lyrics, the singing, the guitars, the drums, the piano, the computerized sounds--all coalesce to comprise a darn good album. With all the audio junk being released recently, it's nice to see a band that still retains a great deal of talent, brilliance, and musical ingenuity. The first track, "2 + 2 = 5"--which seems to be a reference to 1984--is a superb opener with neat guitar licks toward the end. "Sit Down. Stand Up." is a unique, dreamy track, and so is "Sail to the Moon," which has a soothing piano sequence throughout. "Backdrifts" is sort of an electronica track--perhaps my least favorite of the album, but still quite good. "Go to Sleep" is a neat song with well played guitars and more of Thom's entrancing singing. "Where I End and You Begin" is another electronia track, quite neat. "We suck Young Blood" is another easy-listening song that uses the piano very well. "The Gloaming" is yet another electronica track but with a cool sequence of sounds in the beginning. "There There" is the first single, and is indeed a good song with strong drumming, guitars and singing. "I Will" is a short, somber piece with melancholy singing. "A Punchup at a Wedding" is a rather interesting song with more piano goodness. "Myxomatosis" and "Scatterbrain" are additionally quite good. The final track, "A Wolf at the Door" has Thom even semi-rapping the lyrics, and the beat of the song is quite catchy. It may seem improper for me to get hooked on this band's latest, because many people seem to say that one should go back to their early material before advancing to their modern work. All I know is that I love this album, regardless of where their earlier work would direct me. I strongly recommend this album. |

Get OK computer. One of the best albums of the 90s without a doubt. Probably the best.

Yeah, many people have said the same thing. When I once again have enough money, I'll buy OK Computer. I've heard 2 songs off of it, and yes, they are extremely good.
In the meantime, I'll mine the riches of the new album. |

And don't forget Kid A. It's awesome!!
Amnesiac has some really good tracks on it, but I don't think it holds together as well as the other albums. |

Don't forget to buy Pablo Honey. Oh hell, that's all of their CD's almost. Pablo Honey is a really early album, it might be the first but I don't really remember.
If you like Radiohead, you should check out Oasis too. |

I would save Pablo Honey for last. It isn't that good... it is just staight forward brit-pop. It isn't bad brit-pop by any means, but radiohead didnt' do anything really interesting until the bends.
my 2 cents at least. |
