Everytime I see that latest bit on the news about this topic, I have to remind myself that it isn't some weird, stupid dream that I am having; that yes, this is actually even an issue; that yes, ignorant bumblefucks who want to control what other people do when it has nothing whatsoever to do with their own lives do actually exist...

*sigh*

The funny thing to me (if anything about this can be said to be funny) is that all of those bumblefucks claim to be arguing from the standpoint of morality. Okay, bumblefuck, who's the one who refuses to allow some people to commit to one life partner? Who's the one who is encouraging a multiple-partner, non-monogamous lifestyle?

I believe that one thing I've seen sheds a lot of light on the real reason for anti-gay bigotry, as opposed to all of the silly rationalizations. Once, I was at Gay Days at Disney World, and I heard only one anti-gay comment the entire time. It wasn't directed at the man wearing a leather bondage harness and Minnie Mouse ears or at any of the other usual suspects. It was directed at a man wearing a T-shirt reading, "GAY: Good As You."

What the fundies have done, is they have manufactured a connection between a gay marriage and their marriage, which then gives them the right to their soapbox. This connection has been referred to as "moral fiber" or "instituation of marriage" of this nation.

No one has mentioned yet that these two phrases are bullsh!t phrases, meaningless in the context that they are used, (similar to their use of "soul", "heart", "love", etc.)

Fundies need to somehow show how gay marriage affects Xian families, and since there is no real evidence of this, they invent a "moral fiber" element of the nation, which is inexplicably damaged with every pilow bite and muff dive.

This sets off the following memetic belief in some Xians >>

Gay marriage reduces the moral fiber count of the USA...Lower moral fiber counts piss God off (see: Fundy Meme WTC 9-11)...My family could be killed by a pissed-off God.

Therefore gay marriage could kill my family.

No shit, DBP. Wouldn't allowing gay marriage strengthen marriage? If anything, it seems that dictating who and who can't get married devalues marriage.

I don't get it. Just... don't.. get it. Every phobe I've ever heard attempting to defend their position starts with the assumption that homosexuality be bad, and frantically paddles around trying to find the justification. Gah, those people...

I have classified homophobia as a hobby... an activity that people engage in to get their jollies and feel better about themselves. It's a destructive and completely pointless hobby, but a hobby nonetheless, and the phobes would do much better to take up stamp collecting or model rocketry instead and stay the HELL out of other people's business.

I agree completely. Also, I like the bumper sticker. If you get them made, I'll buy at least one. Hmmm... maybe I should crazy glue them to the bumpers of vehicles which belong to homophobes.

On the one hand, it won't change their minds, and it is a violation of their property rights.
On the other hand, it's just so fitting, and would be even more so if their vehicles were damaged by other bigots as a result.

Sigh. I hate these ethical dilemmas.

Oh, and, suprise suprise, I'm not gay either.
