I suggest "Nations of the civilised world, unite!"

Ah, so a requirement of good tender is 'words' is it? Maybe because there are 15 countries in the EU they can't do that.

Don't they all?

Oh I'm terrible sorry, we didn't consider obscure American loons in the creation of the new currency. If they act paranoid like that, it's their problem.

It seems to me that all of your criticisms have nothing to do with the performance of the currency itself.

Shouldn't that URL be "www.gocanada.aboot.com"?

The only aboot you're going to get is one up your rear.

You don't want to be the next shrimp on the barbie, do you now?

We're probably the only country in the world which doesn't mind having funny money. Our dollar coin is called a "Loonie" and the $2 coin is called a "Twoonie". Though, some would call the twoonie a gay coin because it has a queen on the front and a bear behind.

Mate, as an Australian with Canadian relatives, I definitely do not deserve that comment.

Care to step outside and repeat that, Canuck?

We've got teflon notes and a $2 coin that's even smaller than our 10 cent piece. Is that "funny" enough?

Most certainly I would not want Russia in the EU now. Russia is in no way a stable democracy. Those in charge of the military now became serviemen during the era of the former Soviet Union. I have no idea if the military can be relied on to obey the elected civilian govermnent.
Despite this it is impossible to guess what the situation will be, say 20 years from now. By then the EU will be bigger so the Russian population may not dominate to the same extent. By then Russia may be a stable democracy so it could be safe to let them in.
We just don't know.

Someone else pointed out, 'If Pres' Bush carries on the way he is and one or more like him follow Europeans may become keener on limiting American hegemony'.
United States citizens, may I suggest that you consider voting for representatives who are more moderate than Pres' Bush and who respect other nations more than Pres' Bush.

Wouldn't you rather have a nice cold can of Fosters?

Teflon? How do you hold onto your money? If all else fails you can always cook on it.

LOL! No, I'm a wine and spirits man. Make mine a Strongbow White, a Penfolds Grandfather or a decent cognac!

Contrary to popular myth, most Australians don't really like Fosters.

With great difficulty, just like anyone else.

This has become even more difficult since the introduction of the GST.

LOL, and non-stick, too!

Actually, I'm not 100% sure that they're teflon - but they sure feel like it! The official government line is "We have polymer notes." (Hmmm.)

Anyway, you can learn more about them here.
