I'm currently the IT manager (i.e. webmaster
![]() Prior to this I did a short stint trying to sell web sites. I sucked at it. :banghead: Prior to that I worked in a Fly Fishing shop. Lots of fun, good discounts on gear. I enjoyed teaching casting and fly tying but we couldn't live on retail clerk wages. Prior to that I was enjoying a satisfactory career as one Uncle Sam's pojection of force tools (U.S. Navy). 22 years. And waaaayy back when, I was working in a local restaurant as a diswasher/busboy/short order cook, looking longingly at the tip jar the bartendar was filling every night! Hmmmm, wonder what I could do next???? |

Excellent thread, it's interesting to put some texture to one dimensional names on a forum.
I am a Senior Claims Rep with an auto insurance company, for 16 years. Prior to that, I was active duty Navy, am still in the Naval Reserve, drilling once a month in Norfolk, VA. My dream job would be teaching History or Poli. Sci. in college, still dream of going forward toward a PhD in some kind of combination of History and Political Science, with an emphasis in early American history, which is my passion. My favorite thing that I do is being a Dad to my 13-year old son. Unfortunately, since he is an only child I can't pass on the lessons learned from my screw ups to another child, but it is still doubtless my favorite job in the world. |

I'm the director of a consulting business unit at a market research and consulting company. It's a reasonably satisfying career being an expert that the clients call for advice.
If I could do it again I'd probably want to have gone into academia. |

I'm a first-year college student and I haven't declared my major yet, I was thinking computer science, but now I'm leaning more towards German.

I'm currently a lazy-ass college student who really needs a job. I'm majoring in journalism but what I'd really like to go into is publishing.

I'm an English major but money's been so bad lately that I can't afford to go to school this spring semester. So my job is finding a job which will probably be in sales or the service industry (woohoo!
![]() I used to study theatre and planned on becoming a stage actress but I knew I didn't have the out and out dedication needed to pursue that for the rest of my life so I fell back on English with an emphasis on the writing aspect of it. At one time I wanted to be a criminologist but I didn't feel like working to join the FBI which is where I would have had to go eventually. |

Currently my wife and I are starting our own company doing logistical support for bio-tech startups.
I'm also an embedded systems engineer by day designing test equipment for DSL, POTS, and Cable. Previously I worked on self organizing robots, gas detecion systems, weapon controls for nuclear submarines, and AI agents for experimental economics simulations. Previous to all of that I did retail, waiter, bartending, landscaping, PC repair. |

I'm a service consultant for a giant health insurance company. Which means I pay claims and take service calls. I've been there for 5 years.
