Christmas: Santa's birthday.

Easter: That Sunday in spring when nothing's open, and I don't figure out why until mid-afternoon.

Pope: A guy who supposedly doesn't have sex (with women anyway) but wants to give me advice on birth control ?!

Jesus: Composite character, and not even a very good one.

OCEAN, n. A body of water occupying about two-thirds of a world made for man -- who has no gills.

OCCIDENT, n. The part of the world lying west (or east) of the Orient. It is largely inhabited by Christians, a powerful subtribe of the Hypocrites, whose principal industries are murder and cheating, which they are pleased to call "war" and "commerce." These, also, are the principal industries of the Orient.

RELIGION, n. A daughter of Hope and Fear, explaining to Ignorance the nature of the Unknowable.

The Devil's Dictionary, by Ambrose Bierce
