And isn't it strange that no matter which team wins, there's a good chance they'll thank some sort of deity? :banghead:

And note, Magus, that what you say is only "true" (though it's really 33% to 20% in favor of Xianity) only if you lump all Xian denoms and groups in with "Christians", including the Roman Catholic Church, which you don't seem to be a big fan of.
To magus, a 'Christian' is anyone who believes in Jesus (when using the appeal to popularity). However, when deciding who goes to heaven it suddenly becomes "everyone just like Magus."

If God (or the Holy Ghost, I suppose) gave her the alleged 'kick in the pants,' what happened to free will?

And Magus, nice of you to try to steer the thread away from subjects that bother you, but it is after all, MY thread, and people can talk about any bloody thing they want to. I'm not really picky, and from experience I know that you can reach the same place a dozen different ways.

This when you pop in and say, "Gee that's funny, because all this time I've been praying that you'd stay fat!"

Their god certainly is petty running blocks on the football field and playing the supernatural Richard Simmons for middle aged office workers.

I wonder how Lance Armstrong has been so successful without the nod to god. He didn't even need Benny Hinn to help him with his cancer. That'd've been an interesting laying on of hands.
Yeah, lately when I've seen ballplayers hit HRs and point to the sky when they cross home plate, I like to imagine they're saying, "Hey, thanks, air! For providing enough lift for that ball to sail over the fence, and not offering too much resistance. That's really cool of you!"

But, speaking of football, as I was leaving the Bills/Pats game on Sunday, there were some fundies at the entrance to the parking lot where we were parked handing out some sort of garbage. I could tell by how they were dressed, main guy in a suit ranting, with younger girls in long skirts handing out flyers. I didn't even bother to take a look at the flyers, just held out my hand in a stop sign kind of way and said, "No thanks," and kept on walking back to get another beer from the RV. I felt like taking some beers over to them and telling them to chill out a bit, but they weren't my beers to give out, plus I don't think the wife would've approved. I'm thinking now it might have been fun to go up to one of the cuter girls and put an arm around her, saying something like, "Hey honey, why don't you come and relax with a nice cold beer?" Maybe goose her for effect! (Yeah, I know, it's not smooth at all, but it would've been fun!)

Must admit whenever I see that name, I hear the guy in the bathrobe screaming in the ship "IT'S KEYSER SOZE!!!"

Well . . . sports guys are IMPORTANT!

Wiley of Non Sequitur has a great cartoon where the "John 3:13" guy in the stands is answered by the football team on the field holding up a sign "Get a Life!"

Shake:

BWA!HA!HA!HA! You can even state you are praying she has anorexia . . . see! It works!

Unfortunately . . . many see the Patriots win of the Superbowl as a supernatural event.
