The Mayor was evil, but he had style. What else do you need? And he was a good sport at the end. "Well done."

Definitely Angelus. I liked him because he was a more psychological villain; he loved to mess with the gang's heads (and in Jenny's case her neck). This is why I am enjoying the recent episodes of Angel; he is just so evil.

Second runner-up goes to the Mayor. A villain that plots to eat the graduating class, and yet enjoys Family Circus and disapproves of his minion's bad language.

Well, I went with the classics (i.e. Spike and Dru), but where's Faith? Of all the villains in the entire series, she's the one who got to Buffy the most -- as much or possibly more so than Angelus. Buffy was willing to kill Angelus, but also Faith; the difference is, Faith was human.

Nerds of Doom, baby. The funny Buffy episodes are almost always the best. Few exceptions. I still have yet to see seasons 3 or 4, though, so that may change.

ah, I debated Faith... and Trick... but she wasn't a 'big bad', she was a minion, and she didn't stay one (having redeemed, which is why Spike is linked with Dru). Feel free to vote Mayor to include her...

Go start your own poll about 'favorite minions' or 'bad guys' or minor characters...

oh, and I didn't count Willow as a big bad... sorry if that bums people out, but 3 episodes does not a 'big bad'make in my opinion... again, like Faith, she is back...

Hmm. It looks like I'm the only person so far who liked Adam. I realize he's not the big fan favorite, but I always liked him. "You were a Boy Scout?" "Parts of me."

My absolute favorite is the Master, though. He's your basic nasty moustache-twirling maniacal villain, but with better lines than most.

Plus, he quotes Disney films

The mayor was great. One of the funniest moments in Buffy history was where he became invincible, took out a to-do list that said something like

Get haircut

Become invincible

PTA meeting

and crossed out "Become invincible".

Spike solo, my friends, Spike solo.

His best moments came long after Dru left the scene.

Spike is my role model. It used to be Chris Jericho, but now it's Spike!
