Mageth's assessment is my guess as well. If so, responding with anger or any immediate emotion is very unlikely to have any positive consequences.

I'm not ruling out the christian drug dealer possibility. They might well get mad about brining strangers in.

From what I've seen, I don't think it has much, if anything to do with this person being religious. Sounds like she was just being catty, to be honest. Or if you quoted what she said verbatim, it sounds as if she has some pretty serious mental issues. It's generally not healthy to freak out whenever a friend brings some company over.

But also, who knows? Maybe there was a breakin to her house recently(she lives in a bad neighboorhood, right?) and she is just a little jumpy. There are a lot of things to consider besides just religion.

Default Maybe it was your attire?

You weren't, by chance, wearing a shirt saying something like, "It's your Hell, you burn in it", were you?

You certainly got a nasty un-welcome there!

I wonder if she greets her family in such a warm manner.

The person didn't strike me as a drug dealer. But appearances can be deceiving, I thought that she just felt uncomfortable having somebody she didn't know there. Poor judgement on my friend's part I guess. You're probably right about her being catty and having social issues.

I don't think it has to do with me being an atheist, I haven't told Marie explicitly. It could be that my vibes are giving me away But I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. She's a total weirdo and you guys are a thousand times more warm and friendly then she was

Why oh why would a person who is freaked out about strangers in her house AND who lives in a seedy neighborhood leave her door unlocked for anyone to come in???? I'm sure you didn't crawl through her window to get in!

Lightbulb Damn what a beeaaaatch...

I have never been greeted like that, with disdain rude unwelcoming when a friend has brought me to a stranger's house. It usually starts with, um, hi this is Ch@d. The homeowner looks at me, and says hi Ch@d, welcome. I say, hello, nice to meet you, nice place you have here-- nothing out of the usual.

I might have said (in your situation), "I'll just wait outside, fuck this b!tch!"
