DMCA = Digital Millenium Copyright Act. A travesty. Tools and information which can be used to circumvent digital secrecy measures are illegal to publish. It doesn't matter the reason.

The only way Linux users can watch DVD's on their computer is with a program to crack the security. Illegal.

Found a glaring security hole in a system? You can tell it's producer but you can't tell anyone else--that would be information to defeat their security. If you can't prove the problem who is going to take you seriously? Effectively proving it is illegal, though.

Copyright specifically permits backups for personal use. A tool to make such a backup of a protected disk: Illegal.

Default Dean Cleans Up.

Another Review of speech

Quote:
But the most amazing part was the finale, with a fiery Dean pounding the podium:

I want my country back!

I don't want to listen to fundamentalist preachers anymore!

When Dean uttered this last line, the whole place went nuts. Utter pandemonium. It was literally one of the most amazing sights I have ever seen.

I reserve the right to change my mind, but as of now, Dean's the one.

One of the benefits of sporting press credentials was hearing the press chatter. I heard "he's too short", "he's too liberal", and "he reminds me of Jesse Jackson -- gives good speeches but there's nothing else there." But at the same time, there were other voices saying "he's different", or "he's got a good chance".

Actually, the official response from the Dean campaign is that Howard Dean is NOT a member of the NRA.

I admit he is moderate on the gun control issue, but this I feel makes him more electable in the general election as a good percentage of those that are otherwise liberal on the issues, or independents and libertarians don't vote democrat because they are gun owners paranoid that their guns will be taken away from them. They agree with the Dems on most if not all other issues but for many the gun issue is the deal breaker.

no worry of that with Dean.

But I repeat, the official response out of the Dean campaign is that he is NOT an NRA member. (I suspect its a rumor started by his rivals, but that's a guess)

He sure sounds like he's trying his best to not be labeled a liberal.
What a ridiculous situation this is where "liberal" has become a dirty word.

I believe it is that he gets an "A" rating from the NRA, probably for his support of hunters in Vermont. And he has said that gun control in Vermont or Colorado is a different issue than gun control in New York or LA.

I kinda like the guy so far, he isn't afraid to say what he thinks.

I would suggest he stay away from small planes.

Honestly, I don't even care at this point if the guy is NRA approved. From what I'm seeing so far, I'd happily trade gun control for the rest of the Dean package. His attitude in general is just SUCH a breath of fresh air in this political climate. Or perhaps I should say, a remotely electable breath of fresh air -- let's hope the Democrats grow a spine and get behind him!

heh heh, I mentioned his "package"

I didn't see the clip. Do you mean the crowd when nuts in a good way (they support this) or a bad way (they wanted to lynch him)?

Cool Crowd loved him

The crowd loved him, they went nuts in a good way.

That is why the author of the article said that

"Dean Cleaned Up", apparently Kerry and Edwards completely bombed! (no pun intended)
