would think that the creationist movement was really a plot by atheist to undermine Christianity!
Well, let's be fair here.

If you were god, who would you choose to defend your faith?

Steven Hawking, or "Dr" Hovind?

Give your answer, and reasoning

What they do is look for something in the belief systems of those they would absorb and incorporate it into Christianity, that is where many religious holidays and practices came from, such as Christmas and Easter. However, they have a really big problem with science.
That's so true. And the problem is that they're not just trying to absorb it, they're trying to replace it. At least, they'r etrying to replace atheism and they have some idea that science is atheism's greatest piece of propaganda. The really sad thing is that we have historical records of what life was like when science was so absorbed into Christianity that it didn't have its own identity, and it wasn't pretty. Sometimes I wonder if these people have the faintest idea of what they're really doing. Are they so keen to go back to a world where all science-based medicine is replaced by prayer?

Cambian,

I am an a-theist, I have no faith to defend. If I were God and saw what a mess the Christians have made of things I would become an a-theist!

Abion,

Be afraid, be very afraid. The country is run by Christians and they are morons!

Starboy: If you were god, and you saw what a hash Christians had made of you, you'd stop believing you exist?

I mean, if YOU were God, which of those people would you choose to defend peoples belief in you? (might be a better way of phrasing)

Lets not get over dogmatic here.

That evolution has occured is only 99.9999999999999% certain if one makes the questionable assumption that God, Q, space aliens, time travelers, etc. are not trying to trick scientists for amusement, boredom, the better good, some mysterious way, etc.

Now hang on a tick, what's all this about Q? I thought he actually helped Jean-Luc preserve evolution. Or something. (been a while since I saw that episode)

I am. Well, I'm concerned rather than afraid at the moment, but it's that concern that has me spending hours a week on boards like this one, and encouraging owners of every independent bookstore I come across to carry "Finding Darwin's God" (and growling at one who was carrying "Icons of Evolution". I do worry about the attitude of some scientists and other educated folk that creationism is some sort of fringe fad that doesn't need to be take seriously; my dad thinks this is all some huge joke. I was glad to see that the AGU meeting last year included a whole section on creationism, especially ID, and its threat to school and university education; they had Kenneth Miller and Robert Pennock as speakers, so they were certainly taking it seriously. Pity they have to, but there it is.

Neither, since both of them are evidence of the cruelty of a capricious god. One has been given a flawed, horribly crippled body, while the other has a flawed, horribly crippled brain. Any self-respecting god should hang his head in shame with either one.

A scientific fact is an idea confirmed to such a degree that it would be perverse to withhold provisional consent. You may support a foolish perversity, but I'd rather adhere to a rational certainty.

If you come up with evidence for your unlikely exceptions, I'll cheerfully say I was wrong; until then, I'll stick with the ideas that don't waste my time.
