Default Jayson Blair and the NY Times...

I don't know if y'all will be able to access this link regarding their own police work, but I thought it pertinent.

It took eleven days to report that one of their own was a fraud (and not from a "lesser" news source; from the "highest" news source).

I'm not posting this because he was a fraud; I'm sure there are others out there. The question that bothers me is why wait so long? The article notes that the Times editors knew he was committing fraud at least as early as May 1st (when he resigned).

You'd think they would publish it immediately after the resignation, if not before, as an on-going self-investigation.

I'm not sure of the ramifications yet, so I offer this to the piranha in the tank .

It's prudent to be sure of one's facts before going public with something that will tar him for life whether true or not. (There's also libel issues to think about!) I just wish they were that careful when it wasn't one of their own. (Really it's a matter that there wasn't any real danger of being scooped since it was an internal matter.)

Did anyone find that on CNN.com?
It was on news.bbc.co.uk today, but I can't seem to find it on CNN.
I can find 'Homeless man set on fire' and 'Nudist tennis Webcast planned', but nothing about this.
Odd
