Now who said that ? And what connection does it have to what I'm saying ?

If, Iraq develops into a democracy and if, it is not completely hostile to western culture then, The U.S. will not perceive a need to ignore Pakistan's antagonism of India in order to keep Pakistan as an ally. (Its a pretty big if though)

India is in the process of extending its missile range. Its lunar exploration project will provide that.

However since, I am not aware of any Hindu clerics calling for a holy war against western infidels or, any instances of Hindu terrorism and, the fact that the current government of India has not previously attempted to invade two of its neighbors, I'd say that it is highly unlikely that the U.S. perceives any need or has any desire to engage in either a military or an economic conflict with India.

Of course this all precludes any belligerent stance being taken by India.

Then maybe you should read the newspapers more; the ultra-nationalist and ultra-Hindu party BNP, and many ultra-Hindu fanatics, have been quite active against both Moslems and Westerners inside India.

Just a small correction, and much beside the point; suchlike goings-on do not interest the USA, since they are limited to within India.

How could it possibly increase Pakistani-sponsored terrorism more ?

You are aware of how much it has cost India in human lives already ---- IMHO, Indian restraint simply tends to play into Pakistani hands.
i did not say pakistani-sponsored terrorism, i said islamist terrorism. an attack on pakistan might cripple that country, but that might not stop someone from malaysia or saudi arabia coming into the country. and then there might also be terrorist cells living in india already. it has been reported that osama bin laden included india in his list of targets for a jihad, just because the current support comes from pakistan, doesn't mean that it will continue to do so.

and yes, i am aware of the cost to india in human lives... more aware than most on this forum because i am from india, and actually experienced firsthand the bombay blasts in 93. indian restraint is the only way to go... limit it to war on the border, and use diplomacy to find a solution. the alternatives are too scary - for me at least.

Granted. I should have specified the exportation of terrorism.
