This Walter B. Jones, Jr. guy is a real piece of work. Surely you've heard it said that the leaf doesn't fall far from the tree. Well, Jr. fell very far from the tree. His father Walter Sr. was a respectable liberal Democrat in the eastern NC district. Even Jr. himself started out as a Dem years ago and then he went over to the dark side and became a conservative/Republican. He's a Catholic while Mrs. Jones is a Protestant. Wally goes to mass on Saturday and hits the Protestant circuit on Sundays so he can portray himself as Catholic/Protestant man. Like most of his ilk he has nothing of any value to offer America. So he just peddles foreign religion(s). When Christianity succumbs he will be cast aside.

And speaking of campaign finance reform, two (count'em) of Pat Robertson's organizations are suing to overturn the recently passed McCain-Feingold act - the Christian Coalition, which wants to continue to publish its highly slanted and partisan "non-partisan voters guides", and the ACLJ, which is representing some evangelical teen agers who are challenging a provision that bans political contributions by persons under 17 (intended to prevent wealthy parents from evading the limits by making political contributions in their children's names.)

Really. If they want to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, shouldn't they be asking to be taxed instead of asking to avoid taxes?

I think the ACLJ has a point. An absolute ban, at least in my mind, does go too far. Actually, I think that the Christian Coalition has a point too, even if its guides are hardly non-partisan. Banning or limiting political speach poses real constitutional issues.
