I do not know how much power the administrators with the program (I don't know much about programs) but could whoever programs this...er... program make it so if you put someone on your ignore list you cannot see them at all? I don't even want to know that the guy I have ignored is even still among the living, much less posting, much less responding to anything I have to say. and I really really hate the fact that I have the option of seeing the message anyway by clicking a link.
Can this aspect of this otherwise excellent forum be changed? |

In the O/P, the person I ignored was yguy. I am not proud of my visceral reaction to him, but I certainly felt I was justified in being angry. I am a firm believer in righteous anger. The problem is that it took me a day and a half before I realized that yguy was not interested in discussion, just interested in making inflammatory remarks.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hedwig: And for the record, I'm not pleased by what I did. I don't approve of lying like that. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- yguy: Which is why I'm not having the sort of acrimonious dicussion with you that I did with McDuffie. This is an excerpt of a conversation from the post called Age of Consent in the morality section. If you read the above exchange in the context of the thread, it is clear that yguy is saying that he is having an acrimonious discussion with me because (unlike Hedwig) I approve of lying like that and/or I am please with what happened (having sex with a minor as the result of a de facto conspiracy). I challenged him to cut and paste a single word I said that would indicate that I was proud of this event or that I approve of that sort of dishonesty. He fired back that he never said that, so why should he. It was at this point that it finally sunk it that he is interested in pissing me off, not discussing the issue. I reread our entire exchange and I felt like kicking myself for allowing him to drag me down to his level. I apologize for the profanity I used against him, and I did ignore him immediately after my review of the thread. I also requested that the moderator delete my every thread after the one that started the problem. After I posted the O/P here, I happened to glance down and I saw that someone posted a message entitled "more yguy". I then did a search and saw that he has been complained about in the past many times. I would like to add my voice to the chorus of voices who want him banned. I know I am new here and it seems as if I am coming into a new place and trying to change it for my convenience, but that is not it. I have been posting in the EZ boards for several years and I have not ever requested someone be banned. It is a last resort for me and I reserve it for people who are not logging on to discuss and debate issues, but for those who are just there to anger people. |
