Hi!

I suspect some of you probably heard of this before, but this is something I just discovered tonight. I started to pay more attention to the canadian political parties, their history and programs in order to be a good citizen when the next election comes. Doing so, I stumbled upon this gem:

Canada had a political party named the Conservatives and Reformists Alliance Party. Not for long, they eventually what the acronym was and decided to change for the Reform and Conservative Alliance Party.

I just had to share

What I always found even funnier was that a separatist party was Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition.

Oh yeah!

I tend to forget about that.
The "Block Qubecois", a federal party promoting the independance of the province of Qubec was the official opposition from 1992 to 1996 I think. Maybe more, I dunno.

It's kind of silly that this party still exist at the federal level. It's purpose was to create favorable conditions for the 1995 referendum on separation in Qubec. But they're still clinging to their seats in Ottawa. Peh
