WTF is it with you Colorado a-holes who keep scheduling events for while I'm not here? I'm only here like 90% of the time in between August and May, but no, you schedule these damn meetings in that 10%. There really is an Evil Atheist Conspiracy...

Hi!
Just curious: did I miss a meeting in Boulder?

If I'm not black-listed, Korean food is just grand!

Would you like guests to bring wine? Dessert?

Yes, you missed this:

Usually I email everyone as well but this time, I just let the public notice suffice.

FamilyMan,
kimchi sounds good. You wanted us all to bring a variety of items besides dessert I think, right?

Hmm, here's a radical suggestion for you - plan your own gathering. If you plan it, we will come! :d

Attendance is always good.

AspenMama, bring what you like. Desserts are fine.

I hope to un-lock my copy of 67 Enchanted Double Pagan Delights from the United Korean Penninsula in celebration of this blessed gathering.

---And, yes, a sensory impaired white guy with large hands can indeed whip up some FINE-SOUTHERN FRIED 'Korean'. As a recent Chinese-Malay friend pointed out:

"What, Korean Food? Just do a Cantonese dish and add a fried egg on top!" (sorry, it was funny at the time...)

so, for now - say this Korean Buddhist Mantra with me:

<1,000-10,000 times a day, real, real fast - prescribed amount>

Na Mu Kwan Se Um Bo Sal
Na Mu So Ga Mo Ni Bul
Chong Gyak Mio Peop Hyan Hwa Kyong

All together now!

CHANT!

---

However, mastication is not to be taken lightly, as -

My stomach is one of the few things which can over power My Generalized Insanity, so I will cook with unbriddled zeal!

So, any suggestions on actual dishes is welcome -

lol I line in a college dorm room with 2 roommates I don't think I could host much of a gathering...Also I am not the planning type. No but seriously I'd consider it if I had my own place that was spacious...but I don't. Also I'm poor.

On another note...any Boulder Atheists here members of "Boulder Atheists"? I just saw a poster for their meeting on a BB on campus.

Hi, BBT!

I used to run a singles group in Boulder, and I'm poor too. I found that there are places in the Boulder area (away from downtown/the Hill) where it's possible to schedule a meeting and go yourself without spending more than $8-9.

In other words, you don't have to be able to host a potluck in order to schedule an event. I've also had success "hosting" potlucks at the homes and/or clubhouses of single gals/guys who love parties as long as they don't have to do any of the work, plus, I've developed kind of a knack for teaching people how to organize events ("tricks of the trade, as it were" ). So, where there's a will there's a way.

And yes, there are a few local groups: the Boulder Heretics meet on the "teen Tuesday" of every month; I'll PM you the contact person's e-mail address if you'd be interested. Also, there is a rather new Atheist group which focuses are doing charitable work -- it started about a year ago, this might be the one advertising on campus.

In addition, the Rocky Mountain Skeptics (pretty much hard-core atheists all) was founded in Boulder and has regular meetings here as well -- with speakers and topics and everything...

I am, sort of. My fiancee and I were attending meetings last year. We sort of peetered off for awhile, for a variety of reasons. We weren't feeling like that much was being accomplished (although judging from the emails I've been getting from them, that seems to be changing; there seems to be a lot more activism going on now); also, although there are definitely exceptions--the founders being two of the exceptions--most of the people there are specifically not looking to be social, and that sort of turned us off. Plus, meetings are Tuesday evenings, which is Buffy night! But I will probably start attendin again in the near future.

Hey, are you around the weekend before FamilyMan's party? My band is playing again in Longmont, and maybe I'll see if I can convince some of the infidels here to go to another show! Although, I seem to remember that you're under 21, is that right?
