Default New plan for Palestinian state by 2005

Seems the Israeli cabinet just approved the Bush-backed plan to form a Palestinian state by 2005. Anyone sum up the details quick? I mean, I'm sure it'll never work; I'm just a little curious about what exactly will fail to work this time.

Of course it won't work. The Israelis have intentionally set up unrealistic conditions on it. Which they know neither side can guarantee. Nothing new there. It was the same when they made the "offer" of giving back around 96% of the land, but with the condition that the Israeli Settlers could stay and continue to expand. No wonder Arafat walked out on it.

You're right, it's very unrealistic just like the last plan Arafat turned down. Israel will never be satisfied anyway. in the plan, Israel would give back 96% of the land (NOT including Jerusalem and most of west gaza) but, the israeli settlers would get to stay there. and where there are israeli settelers, you can guarantee that the Israeli army is going to be thrown in there to "protect" them. thus, creating the saem occupied territories we've got today.

Critical part that's not going to happen: The Arabs that are supporting the terrorism are supposed to quit it.

Lesser flaw: The PA is supposed to crack down on the terrorists. That won't happen, either--if the PA were serious about trying to they would end up assassinated.

Poison pill: Stage 3 says Israel should grant the right of return to those who left in 48 and their descendants. Nope: They outnumber the Israelis and Israel is a democracy. Israel absolutely can't accept this one--it's the same as total catipulation.

Only if the terrorism didn't stop. If it actually brought peace there would be no need for the army to protect them.

Even if the terrorists stopped they would still want the army there. You have to have someone to clear away the people when you steal their land and bulldoze their homes at gun point.
