As I noted in a response at Tweb, the thing about the "design" that struck me the most was the rigid interior frame that runs the longitudinal length of the ship. I'm not a Naval Architect, however, have a degree in Structural Engineering. I don't know if such a rigid interior frame is used commonly in ship designs, however, from just looking, my guess would be that the ark was giving way too much deflection and was literally ripping itself into two halves.

The other odd thing, I haven't mentioned yet is the second photo they offer for the structural analysis. They show the model, but the bottom of the model almost looks like it has something tapered on the boat. I don't know if those were forces or whatnot, but it seemed odd.

I don't think there will be much more offered in defense of that paper. I think it has been rather successfully debunked around the table.
