I have no issue with daydreamers.

Oh hell yes! Except, being an American, my daydream was to shoot the scuzzbuckets.

I knew I shouldn't have a gun, but I seriously considered getting a Taser (stun-gun) and zapping the assholes on the street and subway who touched me, then kicking them in the teeth, maybe breaking a knee or two so they'd be crippled for life.

I have socked guys on the street for it, but I hit like a girl.

But I was young then; I'm older now so I'm no longer a target for that sort of thing. Life is better now.

I'm relieved that others feel the way I do.
Mikester-
"ive had the thoughts so many times, ive actually begun to be afraid of the thought that i may have an anger or rage problem under the surface. "
Your post pretty much described how I feel. I'm passive yet I'm a small seething ball of rage.
Hey Azathoth, glad someone reads Julian May. I would love to have Milieu era powers. I would settle for operant if not masterclass.TK would be great for humiliating people. You could give internal organs a squeeze. The stomach for example while opening the cardiac Sphincter. Spewsville. Or sqeeze the bladder or make them crap themselves though would you want your mind near someones lower intestine?
There should be a Julian May appreciation thread.

Hmmm I used to have such daydreams. The intensity greatly decreased after I spent 6 months boxing. Sparring 3 times a week with professionals. (I was pretty good. )

Why?

Maybe it's like sex. When I was a virgin, masturbation fantasies were far more ... fun before I started having the real thing.
The real thing stiffled my creativity. I mean certain fantasy positions just don't work etc, you know. And you get a cramp or whatever.

Same thing with fighting fantasies I think.

Anyway I don't think those beating people up fantasies are so good for you. Maybe try boxing. It's also much more REAL than martial arts. The sparring that is. It's also very important to learn to be able to take a punch. (Something most of those martial arts wusses usually can't do.)

How is boxing more real than martial arts? Is it the fact that boxers wear padded gloves, or that there are so many restrictions on the ways you can attack [no kicks, no biting, no throws, nothing but punching] that it bears no real resemblence to actual combat? Or is it that boxers never fight multiple opponents? Or is it that boxers never use weapons? Which of these factors makes boxing so much more real than traditional martial arts?

I would wager that most boxers wouldn't have a clue what to do with a ground fighter or an aikido practitioner. Being "able to take a punch" doesn't make you a good fighter.

I'm 21 and have never been in a fight my whole life, amazingly. I've had many brushes, but have managed to talk my way out of them. Most times guys have wanted to fight me because of girls who have an uncanny talent for getting me into trouble.

I have no idea how to fight, and it would take someone outright assaulting me to get me to fight. However, if someone did attack me, I wouldn't abide by any of the "fair fight" or "manly" rules--
I'd immediately try to gouge his eyes out, kick him in the balls, and/or hit him in the throat.

I really hope that never happens. It will result in either me permanently injuring/killing the guy or him getting so mad at me he kills me.

I know very well the feelings of aggression of which others have spoken. Perhaps more days than not, I encounter someone where I get this feeling deep inside of me, screaming out either "This person desperately needs to be beaten like they've never been beaten before", or "This is a person who is too stupid to live". Usually what sets me off isn't particularly an act of malice; I've dealt with so many of those in my life that petty cruelty doesn't bother me so much anymore. No, what really gets me are general acts of astonishing stupidity. In fact, there have been several occasions where I have had to forcibly relax, take a deep breath, and walk away, in order to not take an action that would be incredibly violent, rather messy, and would probably put anyone who saw it off their feed for a week, and might require psychiatric treatment.
The comment about boxing being more "real" than martial arts is, quite simply, laughable. If you really want, I can relate a personal story or two comparing the effictiveness of the two, and it isn't pretty. Suffice to say I'd rather face a professional heavyweight boxer in a fight than a martial artist within a couple ranks of black/blue belt. At least against the boxer I'd have half a chance.

Yup.I thoroughly enjoyed the Pliocene books.I picked them up at a second hand book store a while back.Nice read. The reason she gives for the origin of the Mediterranean was unique.Give me TK on that level, and I'd be happy.

I'd have to second the suggestion for people who are being intimidated by others,to look into martial arts training. No matter what the martial art is,training can help someone develop more confidence and less fear in those situations.
