Forgotten about my reference to the book, "In Six Days..." already, scigirl?

Maybe me not being as smart about these things, I might insult your intelligence, thats all.

The bible says he created the world in seven days, which doesn't reconcile itself with evolution.

To me, these matters seem simple. I can understand, than in our search for knowledge, we can easily discount things that appear to contradict what we see. But in the end, this is what I believe.

I would like to thank you, Mr. Foursquareman, for not being a jerk, unlike certain others whom I shall not name.
I assume you are making a veiled reference to me. If so, I would like to say that I have seen people post things here such as what foursquareman posted, and they were absolutely pounced on for being naive, stupid, foolish, blinded by religious arrogance, etcetera. Of course, that was in the "religion" section, and maybe the "RRP" area. However, for myself, I do not engage in "attacks" unless first "attacked", in which case, I simply "respond in kind". I would prefer a reasoned, civil, discussion of beliefs and evidence, but have found that I cannot expect that in this forum, unfortunately.

Impossible! Trust me, there is very little to insult.

Very little, if anything, can be reconciled with Genesis. Hence Genesis cannot, and is not, taken literally by most Christians, Jews, or anyone else. Only a minority sect of fundamentalists. I presume you are one.

Fair enough. That's your right.

Thankyou lpetrich.

I could quote the bible, but it would probably bore you all. In the end, if I'm ignorant, I can accept that. I love my life, and try to be a great person (a hero like spiderman - woohoo!). So I've gained a great life through my ignorance.

Doug,

I thought you didn't have time for debates?

IF you want to talk to me about the chimp chromosome fusion, see the thread I started with your name in it.

It's more like your English translation says that he created the world in seven "days." The original Hebrew is not as cut and dry as to wheather they were "days" or not.

You seem to be willing to accept that science is flawed, but not that Jewish creation stories were not intended to be scientifically accurate. Could there be a message behind Genesis that's more important than ignoring such fundamental scienctific concepts as evolution and radiochemistry?

I'm guessing that you don't accept a flat-earth or geocentric universe although a litteral reading of the Bible would indicate as such. Why should the the age of the earth or evolution be any differenct?

Firstly, moses believed God created the world in seven real days. Even that historian Josephus makes mention of it.

Secondly, science has been wrong before. I just think we haven;t got the oprigins figured out yet. I'm sure you agree with me on that.

Lastly, I don't believe the bible supports falt earth and geo-whatever (sorry). I know the verses you are talking about, and I can reconcile them in my head.

What people (even famous people) do or do not believe has no impact on the facts. All kinds of people believe all kinds of wacky things that are contrary to the evidence.

Moses had a close relationship with God. If anyone knew what God meant, it was Moses. Thats all.
