Since you're picking nits --ugh -- how about as snug as a bug in a rug?

I'm not sure there's anything to nitpick about this, but here's a funny expression. Once someone said to me,

"boy, there wasn't enough room in there to whup a cat!"

Well, how much room do you need?

Disclaimer: In no way do I believe that litterally whupping a cat is funny. It's just a weird thing to say.

And there's always "cute as a button" some buttons are just not cute. In fact, most of them are downright functional, and lots are pretty ugly if you ask me.

A more accurate expression would be "cute as a puppy/kitten" 'cause they're just about universally cute.

"Not enough room to swing a cat"

As in, pick up cat by tail, swing around and see if it snags on anything

No, I do not advocate doing this. It can be quite painful (if you let go of the cat and it comes at you).

My pop always used to say that "Its rainin' like a cow pissin' on a flat rock."

I always thought "have your cake and eat it too" was using the word 'have' in the sense 'to eat'.

I had my cake, now I want to eat my cake. See?

Heh, mine used to sometimes get a bit shakey, so he'd be "shakin' like a dog shittin' raisins."

Another one, although I don't think it technically counts as a cliche.

Family pizza. The name would imply it's large enough to feed a family. Huh! What kind of family? Budgerigars? Yeah, I just ate one- on my own, and could fit in a few more slices if there were any.
