I ended that sentence with "so long as it is natural".

Nothing is good as a moral guide, as indicated in More's philosophy. Besides, whereof there is discrepancy between the desires and (particularly sexual) impulses of mankind and womankind, thereof those of mankind shall prevail, as dictated by Nature and his patriarchal kingdom.

So... my crush on Sophia Loren isn't evolutionarily cool. Damn.

Cheers,

Don't worry. I doubt that Sophia uses 'evolutionary coolness' as a criterion, so there's still hope!

Then why do you praise Stalin ?

Some beliefs are superior to other beliefs, inasmuch as some beliefs are more consistent with reality than other beliefs. The beliefs of Stalin are characteristic of such superior beliefs. Truth can and ought to be forced upon everyone. In addition to that, Stalin was an adored leader, and earned himself the right to coerce the minority of people who did not support him, in the interest of the greater good, as the moral figure that he undoubtedly was; indeed, is. Some things can be justified, and the relatively lenient methods of persuasion characteristic of Stalin were one such thing.

Hey there! References please! I have reason to believe that the case is quite the opposite.

I personally do not think that obeying one's natural impulses can be "wrong", immoral, etc; so long as such impulses are natural.
Crikey! Thats such a terribly obvious mistake that it has its own fallacy named after it!

Oh, this ones easy. Totalitariantrebbie is saying that most beliefs are subjective and therefore should not be applied to everyone (as it happens, those opinions that are subjective are those that contradict him). However the truth is objective and can therefore be enforced apon all people (in an astounding coincidence, the 'objective truth' just happens to mirror trebbies own veiws).

In other words, he's not contradicting himself, just asserting that he is right and everyone else is wrong. (and they'll all see oneday... oh yes, their comeuppance is well overdue. They'll be sorry they didn't listen to me then, oh yes. Always the buzzing.)
