We shrivel up and decay while maintaining a low level of consciousness i.e the senses are gone and the vitals are dead but whatever else consciousness consists of - it's still functioning.
Then the microbes and bacteria get us and we once again become part of life through these things. The human consciousness that was, is first reduced and then broken apart and expanded into discrete multiples. Well, that was scenario 1. In the scenario 2, a voice asks me while I lie in the coffin "be whatever the f you now want to be...create your own reality and enter it". So I choose to be re-born into the Tolkien universe as the Vampire Lestat. Whatever, man. |

But I hedge my bets on the idea that the unverse will spontaniously reorentate your sense of self to another brain where can gain some sense of the passage of time. If I wanted to wish for one the impossible alternatives for afterlives I would like to come back as a Vampire just for the pleasure of sinking my fangs into a few fundies. |

But you know, there are even more terrifying things that ARE true. For instance, people are willing to slaughter thousands of innocents for the sake of imaginary friends. |

Wishful thinking is believing you will enter the Kingdom of God for being a good Xtian or you are going to Paradise to sit on the right side of Allah for being a good Muslim. |

I believe in an afterlife that is a continuation of this life on earth: life in an astral plane instead of the material plane, in an astral body instead of a material body, with a new awareness of things. Life that is just as challenging and progressive as the one we have now. I don't believe in the boring afterlife of Christian eschatology, or in the corrupt porno palace of Islam. I'm an NDE-Literalist, I take the descriptions of NDEs as a literal account of what happens after bodily death. And yes, I believe animals have life after death too. All conscious animals. Cats do, horses do, humans do. Bacteria don't, 'cos they aren't conscious. I fully acknowledge that, since evolution is true, then the scenario that only humans have life after death can't be true. |

I often find the biggest proponents of this nonsense are those who just read up on anecdotes and have never had one themselves. And while you are alive in this life, what is the glue that makes them stick to you body made of? Why do Alzheimer's and brain damaged patients lose much of their memories of this life with damage to their physical brains? Are you claiming that all these memories miraculously return back after they die? |
