I agree with S2;
I'm not familiar with the theological language, but doesn't the church claim that priests are on a direct line with the Big Guy? And if he is so omnipotent, why the heck can't he control these weak-willed priests? Doesn't he know how this will look? |

Maybe they figure one molestation is okay because then no-one will believe the kid. Two, they have a problem, because the second one may step forward and say "Yeah, he did that to me, too".

This article, Why Didn't the Church Call the Cops? by Charles Krauthammer, appeared in my Sunday paper. IMHO its title is the most disturbing question of the whole scandal, followed closely by "Why didn't the parents call the cops?". I've asked both questions but still haven't gotten a good answer....

I think we all have issues with child molesters; especially if they are allowed to hide behind a power structure, in this case, religion.
From birth (usually) these kids are taught to trust the church and the priest. Especially in the catholic church with their rituals, one being confession. These kids are taken advantage of fully, and I will go out on a limb and say that most are to scared to talk because of the wrath of god that will befall them. |
