The serpent, interestingly, was a legged creature, or god wouldn't have laid that curse on it of having to go on its belly all the days of its life.
I wonder how the authors of Genesis pictured it? |

Here is a new spin on things from Hindu and Apocryphal Scriptures!
A&E were simply lied to by Biblegod. Telling them that they would die after eating from the "tree of the knowlegde of good and evil" means that biblegod intended that man live forever in a physical body. This is why the "tree of life" was in the garden of Eden and there was no prohibition against it. Here's where it gets interesting. Mankind realized very early the importancce of sexuality and the bible story is a metaphor explaining a specific immorality:sexualy immorality. A&E after eating the fruit did not realize that what they did was morally wrong;that came later. They first realized that they were naked. The Apocryphal books that explain where Cain got his wife, among other things, explain that Satan seduced Eve into having sex with him. And after he blew her mind she went to Adam and showed him what Satan had done and asked Adam to do it. How could he resist? Would you turn down the most beatiful and only woman in creation? After reading through the Hindu scriptures, like the Vedas, we find that the Serpent refers to a dragon-like creature with the ability to speak. This dragon is a being called Sivan and is one of the friends of mankind. The so-called "god" in genesis is Lucifer, an ancient angelic being, and it is very suprising that the bible writers who were repating this ancient Sumerian and Babylonian story did not realize that this ancient story concerns A&E, Lucifer, and Sivan(the Serpent). It had nothing to do with Yahweh!AFTER the Hebrews became monotheists they begin to project that the god in this story was Yahweh. Remember, Jews to this day do NOT believe in Satan.Nor do they believe in Original Sin and the Fall of Mankind All one has to do is readthe NT,read the OT backwards(from the last book to the first), keep track of all the characteristics of biblegod, and it will become clear that biblegod is Lucifer. What are these characteristics? biblegod requires worship, requires animal sacrifice, is jealous, murders men, women, children, and fetuses, and last of all is a liar. Now after A&E received their divine morality, why would Yahweh fear that eating the fruit from the tree of life would make A&E like gods, when it is obvious that biblegod intended for them to eat this fruit b/c he did NOT prohibit it.The real God would know that nothing Man could do would make Man like God. Therefore the fear expressed by biblegod at this prospect identifies him as not Yahweh, but Lucifer. Isn't mythology interesting?!! peace and blessings [ August 01, 2002: Message edited by: ansarthemystic ]
|

Besides Genesis, I can think of one other story with a similar idea, the (is it Greek or Roman?) story of Pandora. Couldn't help noticing that both stories pretty much lay the blame for all the troubles of the world at the feet of a woman seeking knowledge/giving in to curiosity. Funny isn't it?
Anyone else know any other stories/legends with similar theme? [ August 01, 2002: Message edited by: MzNeko ]
|
