I had read a pretty detailed review of the movie a few months ago, so that wasn't a suprise. It is a suprise that IMDB would put what many consider to be a spoiler on its news page. It really is more of a Ben Affleck movie, not suprising considering its Kevin Smith. But Jennifer Lopez is in it, and will most likely be billed as co-star. While it will have nothing to do with how good the movie is, the studio has to be worried about the backlash against Gigli.

As for the inter-racial comments, from what I've seen, if its a relationship between a hispanic or asian person and a white person, its no big deal. When its a black person and a white person it seems to be a bigger deal for some reason. I guess the bigger difference in skin tone = bigger bigoted response? Whatever.....
There are notable exceptions as always, as others have mentioned, like The Bodyguard, or even Austin Powers: Goldmember. Both of those movies featured a relationship between a white man and a black woman, which seems to be less acceptable than vice-versa. It is an interesting topic, but I won't derail this thread anymore.

On another tangent, Conan was great Friday night, when he was showing a guy who looked like Ben Affleck, and how his life was changed since Gigli came out.

The first words say "(SPOILER AHEAD)" though...

I'm talking about the real relationship. I think most people have been whipped into shape when it comes to accepting make believe relationships. People hate Affleck and J-Lo being together.

I hope that's not your personal view, is it?

I can see my miscommunication in my last post on this thread. No, this is not my view, but probably is for many people.

I'd imagine that any negative reaction to Ben Affleck and J-Lo getting it on has nothing to do with their respective races, and everything to do with the fact that they are so incredibly overexposed and overhyped right now that people are just sick of hearing about them.

I mean, come on ... Jennifer Lopez doesn't even register as non-white on most people's racial radar.

I don't like them being a couple just because I don't think he's worthy enough - or at least cool enough for her.

Frankly, Affleck seems like a major upgrade over her previous boyfriends ...

This should be considered the worst script ever for the fact that it somehow made the prospect of going down on Jennifer Lopez unappealing.

Also, if nobody has seen it, they NEED to read this onion article:

"Many participants wrote 'shot to death' in the space provided for comments, probably thinking that it would fit in with the gangster characters' stated realities," Columbia Pictures director of marketing Peter Zitterman said. "Some comments showed a lot of careful thought, such as 'point blank through head from right side,' 'both at once with single shot from elephant gun,' and 'several hundred times, with multiple camera angles showing their bodies jerking as they're shredded with a heavy hosing of lead, spraying the lens with gobbets of meant and bone and blood, with the sheer number of fist-sized exit wounds obviously precluding any sequel.'
