Default Bush-Blair Press Conference

I'm watching the press conference on CNN. The substance of the press conference thus far is little more than warmed over bullshit rhetoric that this board has deconstructed repeatedly.

I hope that the British press present will not handle Bush with the kid gloves worn by the American media.

The main thing I noticed, and I'd like other people to comment on this, is Blair's delivery. I've seen him on CSPAN a lot, and he's usually very eloquent and articulate. However, during this press conference, his speech is much more telegraphic and halting, like Bush's. Would he, maybe, have toned down his delivery to make Bush look a little better? Bush's speech was full of the usual Amuricans, terrists, nuclars, and a range of stutters and 'uhs'. Would the White House want Blair to take things slow too? To decrease the contrast and make Bush come off...you know, a little...smarter?

Just something I noticed. Maybe I'm way off the mark. Thoughts?

"We ended the threat of Saddam Hussein's Weapons of Mass Destruction" said Bush during the conference. If you did, WHERE THE FUCK ARE THEY GEORGE?

I only watched a few minutes of Blair's address to both houses. He is a wonderful speaker and I get the impression he writes most of his own stuff. He also has that certain 'something' that only a few leaders have. Like Clinton had. And watching him now makes me feel the same way I do watching Clinton. All that talent, hope, and light thrown away on a stupid mistake that each of them chose to make. How sad.

No matter how much they slow down Blair's speech it won't help Bush who isn't even in the same class. For him it's all about the camera angles, costumes, and swagger. Even in his flight suit and giving his best performance he can't compare to Blair or Clinton even at their lowest moments. That's sad too.

What gets me is how Bush seems to stammer out a answer to a question that he's answered many times before. You'd think that by this time he would have at least memorised a answer. His stammering really makes him look like a idiot.

I didn't think that was in question any more.

A nice little mini-song by the greatest Punk and socially aware band ever. (IMHO)

Blair, the pompous asshole, tries the Pascal's Wager defense:

Quote:
"If we are wrong, we will have destroyed a threat that at its least is responsible for inhuman carnage and suffering. That is something I am confident history will forgive," he said. "But if our critics are wrong ... and we do not act, then we will have hesitated in the face of this menace when we should have given leadership. That is something history will not forgive."
"That is something I am confident history will forgive"???!!!
Tell that to the dead.

Notice how both administrations are hustling to put the nuclear fiasco behind them.

It's over now! We've assigned blame (to Tenet).

Let's move on. (And have some more of the same)
