Here is another " I detain the absolute truth" statement on your part which to me is as negative as the " absolute truth" statement from a fundie. |

So, uh, you're saying that we should keep lugging grandma to the dinner table just in case she's still conscious and hungry, rather than burying her out back beside grandpa? Or should we maybe dig him up and put the two of'em in bed just in case they're both still conscious and horny? IOW, please don't bother me with all that hocus pocus mischief... at least until you can link me to even the tiniest of tiny molecule of evidence to support that fantasy world. Until you can do that, I have no problem stating that I KNOW EXACTLY what the after death is like. I've seen enough death to make that particular personal decision for myself, with NO uncertainties. Here is another " I detain the absolute truth" statement on your part which to me is as negative as the " absolute truth" statement from a fundie. So, uh, what's your point? That I make negative statements? OK! Sabine, I'm old enough now and experienced enough now that there's little difference between my common sense and absolute truth, but I do know the difference because I do know my limits. Now, the first time I SEE a dead maggot-filled animal get up and take a leak, I'll maybe reconsider that "absolute truth" thingy and get as spooked as you folks get over absolutely no truth at all, but until that time Sabine, until that time... |

" as you folks"...it appears that you have a hard time accepting different opinions even if presented as moderatly as I have. My point is that the minute anyone pertains to detain " the absolute truth" they remove themselves from the possibility of gaining any further knowledge. Which does not quite fit the claim of being led by reason and logic. But what can I expect from anyone who states that " I am old enough now and experienced enough now ". I guess you have reached your limits indeed and growth and acquiring more knowledge are "now" irrelevent. Have you really acquired knowledge of all things? IMO it is prudent to leave room for alternatives when it comes to the possible existence of a reality which none of us can percieve today. Believe in the oblivion and claim it as " absolute truth". I will remain prudent and claim that we have yet to have knowledge of all things. Even as we feel we are old enough and experienced enough. Who was the wise man who said " I know that I do not know anything" ? |

Astronaut Kalpana Chawla had done one thing that many Hindus consider virtuous: she was a vegetarian. And she insisted on vegetarian food for herself on her mission.
Ilan Ramon, though a secular Jew, took along kosher food and consulted with some Rabbis on how to observe the Jewish Sabbath. What counts as every "seventh day" in low-earth orbit? Every seventh orbit? Every seventh period of wakefulness? Each orbit produces an evening and a morning, which would argue for orbits. However, a low earth orbit is once every ~90 minutes, making a "seventh day" every 10.5 hours. |

They've been showing the Columbia memorial service on C-Span tonight, and it is absolutely dripping with religious nonsense. The chaplains made several references to our "lord" Jesus Christ and went on and on about "god's glory" and "power." I'm sure that the families of the Hindu and Jewish astronauts were just thrilled to hear this crap.

Shows once again the arrogance of the Christian mindset in the good ol' USA.
