Default Never made a formal introduction...

Hey, I've made a couple posts here after realizing my ancient account was still active, but haven't actually introduced myself. So if you're interested, here's some random stuff about me.

I'm 16, going into my junior year at Brophy, a Jesuit high school in Phoenix. Yeah, I know it's Catholic, but I could do far worse than the Jesuits and I actually chose of my own free will to go there. So far I've enjoyed everything but the theology classes, which are all pretty shallow and uninformative. All my closer friends know I'm atheist and pretty much don't care, or crack atheist jokes which I usually find pretty funny actually.

Much of my philosophical outlook has been shaped by my beginning Shaolin kung fu about a year and a half ago after not making the freshman baseball team. Subsequently I discovered Taoism, and while I have not fully gotten into all the mystical elements and such, I have been drawn into a lot of its philosophical outlook.

I'm also on the policy debate team, if any of you have had any experience with that. Quite an interesting activity, if sometimes a little ridiculous with all the kritiks and nuclear destruction disads (ooh, look at that debate lingo ).

Right now I'm doing a tutoring type thing to fulfill a service requirement, and it's been pretty cool because I tutor 8th graders for math, and they don't tax my patience that much, and even though I have to tutor 1st graders for reading, I'm doing it with a really cute girl, who seems to like me a bit .

Debate is awesome by the by.
I've been thinking of joining my schools debate team next year, except I hate that freshly mauled feeling.

Hello for another time?

IMO, stick with the "philosophical" stuff and let the "mystical" go. It just leads to a whole buncha magical and alchemical hooey, or at least that's where it took its Chinese adherents. The _Tao Te Ching_ and the _Inner Chapters_ are both worthy sources, but watch for the inner contradictions in the former. I much prefer Chuang Tzu to the old man. Leave me to slap my tail in the mud!

Hi Lohan, I'd say welcome, but I guess you've been around for a while. How about a re-welcome?
