Having recently moved from (democratic) MD to (ultra-democratic) DC to (republican) VA, I've found that the one great thing about VA is that you can buy beer and wine EVERYWHERE. I'm talking grocery stores, 7-11s, gas stations. It's a beautiful thing. Still can't find liquor on Sunday outside of a bar/restaurant though.

In Montana, you can buy real beer, and wine, at the grocery store on sundays. However, you can't buy it between the hours of 2 am and 6 am.

When I moved to Colorado and finally got all my stuff unpacked, I figured I'd reward myself with a little Brie and french bread and a nice bottle of Merlot. So I went to the grocery store, and I must have looked lost (I was looking for the wine section) when a store employee asked, "Can I help you?" Come to find out - they don't sell wine at grocery stores here. But luckily, there's a liquor store right next to every grocery store. So - there are more wines to choose from. It's not so bad. Just strange.

Hey, I live in the Tulsa area now; I feel your pain. Prior to April 2000, I lived in Utah. It is far, far easier to get a decent drink here in Oklahoma than in Utah. The liquor stores here at least have regular hours even if they are closed on Sunday. The state-owned liquor stores in Utah all had different hours that also seemed to change frequently just to confuse the liquor consumers. However, I don't know if there are any good microbreweries here at all, whereas Utah had several, including my favorite Redrock Brewing Co., and the very good Wasatch Brewery as well as others.
