Thumbs up

Bravo Gov. Ventura.
Stuff like this makes me feel less cynical about our political system.

Well, maybe it's the extra heat baking southerners brains that is causing the higher percentage of fundies in the population. Or it maybe it's the inbreeding.

Really, that was uncalled for. I don't have the figures, but I'm pretty sure the majority of southerners are not married to their first cousins.

From the OCRT comes a page entitled "How Americans view various religions."
<a href="http://www.religioustolerance.org/amer_intol.htm" target="_blank">http://www.religioustolerance.org/amer_intol.htm</a>

On that page is a poll on undesirable attributes for presidential candidates.

Quote:
Gallup Organization polls (1937 to 1999) on religious prejudice:

"If your party nominated a generally well-qualified person for president who happened to be a 'X' would you vote for that person?" "X" is Atheist, Baptist, Black, Catholic, Homosexual, Jewish, Mormon, and Woman.
From 1999, the lowest on that list was atheist at 49%, followed by homosexual (59%).
The rest of the list had numbers above 90%.

(Though, unfortunately, they didn't ask about Muslims, Hindus, or Buddists.)

This is just one of many reasons that Ventura would have to run KNOWING that he would never win.

So what do you figure? 40, 45 percent?
