Has the term "Argument from fear" been coined yet?

Because if it hasn't, I'd like to do so now.

Yeah, it's good ol' Pascal's Wager, the oldest, tiredest argument around.

Usually it warrants the thread taking an instant trip to RRP.

Well I'm not close to 75, but I've stared at oblivion several times in my life so far. I've been to the emergency room several times in my life. Events include a severe asthma attack, anaphylactic shock (3 times) and a light coma for about 12 hours from severe blood loss (lost over half the blood in my body from an accident). I'm still not fully recovered after 12 years from the last event. Luckily for me it affected mainly my speaking skills and not much else. I'm not scared of oblivion. So there!

Wow Cipher Girl, what an experience! I'm glad you lived to tell about it!

Thanks scigirl. The only problem I have now is impromptu speaking. I have trouble thinking of the words so I have a slight stutter sometimes. Having severe allergies, I always have to be careful. But I've learned to live each day on its own and its better to take risks and do what you want in life.

I guess sciteach felt inadequate and left.

I think you're referring to <a href="http://www.intrepidsoftware.com/fallacy/af.htm" target="_blank">Argumentum ad Baculum</a> (Appeal to Force).

Nah, it doesn't look a thing like a fish. A bacteriophage, maybe...
