Does anyone have some camping advice for Wisconsin (southwest corner of MI would be fine as well)?
My wife and I are taking our 7 yr old niece camping in a couple weekends and aren?t familiar with the options in WI. Ideally it would be closer to Chicago (where she lives) rather than further. A lake would be nice; Lake Michigan would be even better. She?s had a good time before at state campgrounds. We just need to be sure there?s enough to do with her for the weekend. |

Wisconsin State Park System
You might want to get in touch with the administrator known as "Maverick" - he is an avid camper and also lives in Wisconsin. I'm sure he could help you out. |

There are also national forests in Wisconsin. National Forest campgrounds are primitive but affordable, and often a little more woody and private.

It's about an hour north of Madison, which is about 3 hours from Chicago. |

The one at High Cliffs (Calumet County) is nice too. Lake Winnebago is much nicer to swim in than Lake Michigan.

Wyalusing State Park, in Southwestern WI right on the Wisconsin/Iowa border is a kickass park. There are places that look over the mighty Mississippi where the view is absolutley breathtaking.
