If Adam and Eve were the first two people on earth, then who was it that lived in the Land of Nod, east of Eden where Cain found a wife?

Huh? Why do you get the assumption people lived in Nod before Cain headed there?

Elhanan kills Goliath's brother:

[19] And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam. [KJV]

That was allegedly the brother of Goliath. That's what the KJV says, but unfortunately that's not what the original Hebrew says or implies.

Here's a good writeup.

(BTW, reading that chapter, there seemed to be giants coming out of the woodwork back then.)

Pssst--the brother part was added by the KJV translators. It wasn't anywhere in the manuscript tradition. Apparently they thought it was such an obvious error that a little pious contradiction-resolving would help.

See this website for more info.

Clue phone for Mr. 55.

It says he dwelt there and had a wife, and that they had a son Enoch. He didn't marry his mother, did he?

SecularPinoy:

Well, there have been some who have taken unjustifiable exception when I point out their fallacies.

I thought it funny that perhaps I may meet a "believer" who will dismiss the scientific evidence that proves Our Rock is not ~6000 years old as "you are just appealing to science!"

You know . . . that whole . . . "you skeptics worship science!" stuff. . . .

[Cue Sounds of Crickets Chirping in the Still Night.--Ed.]

Well . . . I thought it was funny. . . .
