The black helicopter thread has me thinking. ... Usually the black helicopters are related to UFO sightings and abductions.
So who here has been an abductee? If you were how would you know? I've seen the black helicopter and I've had abduction dreams. ...Hmmm...I wonder what kinda probes they did. ![]() |

Probes to make you forget their probing. One to make you believe in superstitious tripe. Like gOD.

At one time I was fascinated with, and actually believed in, a great deal of UFO lore, including that dealing with the abduction "phenomenon". Incidently, this led directly to my three-year period of Christian faith (this was due to a book which connected various passages in the Bible, like the wheels in Ezekiel, to the UFO "phenomenon")
See where not being taught critical thinking skills in school can lead? ![]() |

Many years ago [Cue Sounds of Winter Winds Blowing Through the Bare Branches.--Ed.], when SciFi channel showed science fiction--you know, back when A&E showed "arts and entertainment"--they had commentary from Harlan "I Write SPECULATIVE Fiction, Pinhead!" Ellison.
I wish I had the chance to tape it. It was on alien abduction. I cannot do justice to it, but what I can remember--paraphrased: Quote:

I knew a guy that worked on Project Blue Book in the 1970's. Does that count?

I am still interested in the psychology of the abduction phenomena. I have a pretty extensive library of UFO related material and, from my less gullible frame of mind, I find it facinating to chart the changes that have taken place in the UFO world over the past 50+ years. The changes in the movement parallel social changes in many ways. I'm especially intrigued by how the "contactees" descriptions of the aliens and the possible motives of the "extraterrestials" have changed since the early days. I think it has a lot to say about the lack of critical thought out there in the mainstream and about the never-ending search for the spiritual quick-fix. |

I took a UFO class once. The same teacher who taught two previous classes to me on Beginner's Astronomy and Origins. However, this course was filled with people who really believed they had been abducted. They kept pointing to some round mark on their calf that was put there by the abductors. That's when I left the class and didn't return.
