Default Would you risk your life on a spaceflight?

This is a question that I thought of in another thread and am curious what everyone's opinion is:

Would you risk a 1-2% chance of dying to see Earth orbit, or better yet walk on the Moon or Mars?

Absolutely. You tell me I can go into space and I am there, asking when. Can I go now? Can I go now? Can I go now?

Definitely. Why not ?

I risk my life every day crossing the street.
I risk my mental health posting on SecWeb.

Space travel in comparison ? Man, no contest.

A 1-2% chance of dying??? Those odds seem awfully low to me, but if that's what they were, I'd probably risk it.

At the same time, I get nervous enough when taking off and landing in a regular old airplane flight, so I'd probably think hard before going.

Well, a one to two percent chance of dying is relatively high, but I think the potential payoff would be worth it.

Heck, yeah! I brave the world on a daily basis. I'd love to see it from afar.

I wouldn't need to be asked twice. Something I've always wanted to do. To me, the risk is well worth it.

If I thought it would increase my chances of going into space, I'd let you shoot me now!

Wow 100% for Yes at this point. I wonder how this poll would fare on certain other boards.

When I was 3, the only thing I wanted to be was an astronaut. I even memorized the planets in order, etc., much to my parents' amusement. I still think it would be cool, but way too much studying of math and science are required to get there. I'll keep four paws on the ground, thanks. Dying's got nothing to do with it.
