Thumbs up Good reason to buy pepsi ;)

Despite my repeated assertions (sp?) that I am an atheist I still recieve loads of god-spam this latest one is quite entertaining and as the title of the post says ...
(below is taken from an email I received yesterday)

"Don't buy Pepsi in the new can
Pepsi has a new "patriotic" can coming out with pictures
of the Empire State Bldg. and the Pledge of Allegiance on them. But, Pepsi left out two little words on the pledge, "Under God."

Pepsi said they did not want to offend anyone. If this is true then we do not want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office. If we do not buy any Pepsi product then they will not receive any of our monies. Our money after all does have the words "Under God" on it.

Please pass this word to everyone you know--let your voices be
heard. We want the words "Under God" to be read by every person who buys a can.
HOW FAST CAN YOU FORWARD THIS ONE"

Ok first off my apologies for making you read that, secondly, I replied with the fallowing:
*cracks a new can of pepsi*
GOOD!!!!!!!!! Now get that bullshit off our money too!
~you should have known that would be my response to this~

I think it is funny how few of the AmeriCANs realize that the pledge most of us said in skool was not the original one anyway!

Anyhow can anyone tell me if the above is true?

It's false according to Snopes. I always run every piece of spam I get through Snopes search engine

Pepsi Can

Quote:
Origins: Although there once was some truth to the item quoted above, the information it contains is long outdated and never had anything to do with Pepsi or Coca-Cola. Neither soda company is producing, or has ever produced, redesigned cans bearing any portion of the Pledge of Allegiance or an image of the Empire State Building. This issue concerns a special patriotic can design produced by Dr Pepper back in November 2001, a can which was marketed for a limited time and has been off of store shelves since February 2002

No problem! It was fast because I not only have Snopes bookmarked, I have read through most entries on their site, so have a little catalog in my head of covered topics...sort of a hobby of mine!

That does sound like the sort of gibberish that goes out through email chain letters. And my mom falls for it every time... :banghead:

Interesting timing on this thread, though, because I just opened a case of Pepsi the other day where the cans have flag designs all over them. No words, though, at least nothing anywhere near as long as the pledge.

Has any one had Vanilla Pepsi? I saw ads for it on the check-out line coolers at Target, but there wasn't any in the coolers.
Pepsi rules. My dad drank so much of it, he got a benign tumor.
No amount of booze can make Coke taste good.
The crisper drawers of my fridge are full of soda. I've got:
Pepsi, Mountain Dew Code Red, Mug Root Beer, Slice Orange, Dr. Pepper and Minute Maid Pink Lemonade.
Life is good.

Hmm, no longer seems like a SL issue. How about Misc Disc?
