Badfish... one last post in reply to your previous response before I fix dinner....
I do have some concerns as to representing God as a wrathful and hateful God to a person who seeks counseling as part of a recovery program from an abusive parent... and to somehow convince that person that hate and wrath are an act of love to restore in them the hope that their heavenly Father is not like the earthly dad who did apply wrath and hate onto them. I cannot imagine how destructive that notion would be to that broken spirit!
Again that does not fit in with Christ's determination to promote healing. Presenting punishment motivated by hate as an act of love just does not settle with me.

Based on your reply, I must assume that a christian HAS TO follow all that you prescribed to be assured that his or her salvation is secure. Or do you allow room for God to evaluate the reasons why a christian would be prudent when it comes to claim the total and absolute sovereignty of scriptures? Can you entrust God to be the sole judge of our thinking and feelings as we " are still and know that He is" ?

hezekiah jones,

Since you are obviously not interested in the triune God. Don't bother to answer.

You make yourself look errr, shall we say, somewhat "challenged", even a logical non believer can study and understand the concept of a Godhead trinity. A book can be understood abstractly, even if you don't believe it.

Anyway back to Trent Dilfer, I think we should observe and get back on topic probably.

If you really want to discuss the concept of the trinity, make a thread, I'll find it.

No, one must only repent and believe in Christ, it is the one's that know the least yet accept that are truly blessed.

We don't HAVE to perceive God any given way, all we need to know is that Christ is our savior and the repentance of sins as outlined even in the NT is sufficient for salvation.

When dealing with problems such as you said, I would leave the theology of the OT wrath and God out of your work, the OT is really only pertinent to studying the nature and the history of God.

That's odd. I asked you the question. Are you telling me not to bother answering my own question? How then am I to achieve consummation of the trinitarian wisdom?

There has to be a limit to these "abstractions," since you're necessarily bound by the text. It's ludicrous to assert, as you appear to be doing here, that the concept of the trinity, however you understand it, was formulated by the authors of Genesis. There is no evidence for this, other than a highly questionable attempt to equate the polytheistic reference contained in the expression "Elohim" to some contradictory notion of three-gods-in one, which is made even more absurd by trying to squeeze specifically the New Testament god into the tub.

Why - so you can evade the question there too? The fact is, there's no "trinity" in the Bible, especially not in the Book of Genesis, of all things.

But I'll leave you to think up some new and exciting things to say about Trent Dilfer.
