I haven't seen Letterman on the Late Show for a while. What happened to him? Is he on vacation? Is he in the hospital?

I hadn't heard he had shingles - I watched a bit one night, and they said he was recuperating from an eye infection.

I pity him if he has shingles. AFAIK, there's no "cure". My father came down with shingles several years back, and it caused a great deal of debilitating pain. He still suffers from it.
