I first heard of the Internet Infidels about five years ago after visiting this link from Compton's Encyclopedia. The next time that I encountered the II was in October when someone at another board posted a link to this discussion board. I registered in December, and have been visiting the site off an on ever since.
When did you discover the Internet Infidels? Edited to remove an unnecessary word. |

Aug 2000. I was doing extensive research on my lack of theological position, thanks to moving back to bible country and facing up to the fact, for the first time in my life, that I just didn't believe all that. I did a search on atheism and stumbled upon the Infidels' library. I registered to comment on an article I'd just read, and thus stumbled into the forums.
It was the heaven I've always wanted. I don't think I ever got around to responding to the article. I was drawn into the discussions and never looked back. d |

My friend had turned fundie to my more or less apatheism (I had decided against Christianity years before, done the new age thing for a bit, then said "fuck it, it's all bullshit"). Anyway I got online looking up reasons to accept Christianity or the Bible, thinking maybe I had missed something, found Acharya S and that linked to here. I was right, I am an atheist.

I literally just typed in atheism.org (I think it was), was looking for sites on atheism and found this one.

I don't remember exactly how I found my way here in the first place nearly five years ago. I did a search for secular related topics, probably secular humanism. The search led me to the front step of the secular web. It was nearly a year before I found the forums because I had mainly focused on the library and the forums were rather well hidden at that time. I registered under another name, hated it and decided on Demosthenes. The rest is history.

Like so many others, I landed here via the "If you are on fire, do not run" thread. A friend sent me the link and it was all over.

Yup, me too. Bookmarked it because it looked interesting... and returned a couple months later when I got bored with another forum.

I had recently deconverted and was looking around for various arguments for an against Atheism. I found this site and started reading the stuff in the library. After awhile I decided to come into the forum and actually talk to other like-minded people.

It must have come up in a search I did on web forums. I really don't remember why I found this place. I've been a born-again atheist for a long while. This place is just great for oodles and oodles of information.
