Actually, those credentials make him even more suspect: how stupid do you have to be to actually get a Ph.D. in cell biology (even if it was in 1966), and walk away thinking evolution is false?
It certainly makes you wonder if the guy is capable of making a decent inference.

Maybe it was in 1966, but I don't think that is at all true anymore. Molecular biology is everywhere in the discipline, from ecology to systematics to physiology to genetics (OK, maybe not so much in anatomy, but that has its own, even longer association with evolution) so that it takes willful incompetence to avoid the evolutionary implications of every aspect of the science.

You simply can't be a good biologist without acceptance and understanding of the general principles of evolution. It's like trying to be a structural engineer while denying the idea of gravity.

I have two good friends with advanced degrees in the biological sciences who are creationists. They simply deny everything that they have been taught. Which is one of the things that has pushed me away from Christianity. If you have to deny reality to believe, what good is faith?

Did I mention that Menton stated that evolution had absolutely nothing to do with biomedical advances?

David Menton is standing at the unemployment office window.

Clerk- “Name?”

Menton – “David Menton.”

Clerk- “Occupation?”

Menton – “Evolution refuter.”

Clerk- “A what?”

Menton- “I exaggerate, distort or outright make up evidence to further my political and social goal of turning popular support against evolution.”

Clerk- “Oh, a bullshit artist.”

Menton – “*sigh* Yes.”

Clerk- “Did you bullshit last week?”

Menton – “No.”

Clerk- “Did you try to bullshit last week?”

Menton – “Yes.”

Clerk- “Here’s your check. This is the last one, so you either have to go out there and bullshit or you cut off.”
