Seems to me that the Phoenix Saga of the movies will follow closer to the interpretation laid out in the Ultimate X-men comic books. That is, the Hellfire Club use Jean Grey as a vessel for the Phoenix Force which some ancient prophecy told them would grant eternal life to whoever brought it forth. However when Jean became the Phoenix, Xavier interpreted it differently and saw it as just the next step in her mutation, and somehow managed to stop her with his superior telepathic powers. While this is a whole lot less epic than the original comic book script it does allow for the Phoenix to come in without all that outer space shit, which IMHO would make for a fairly ridiculous movie.

I very much doubt that the Sentinels will make into the next movie (or any movie for that matter), a bunch of 60 foot tall flying robots would change the tone of the franchise too much. It's a pity all the same, they woulda been cool on the big screen.

I doubt that the Sentinels will make an appearance as giant purple and blue flying humanoid robots any more than Wolverine makes an appearance wearing yellow and blue spandex, but it would be cool to see an interpretation of them more in line with the feel of the film franchise.

OK.

Great film.

I have questions. Too many questions as this is fiction.

Why didn't flame boy (pyro) flame out the jets and/or the missles fired at the X-Men's Jet?

Why didn't ice boy merely encapsulated Jean Grey or make a dam of ice?

Since a huge amount of the period table is metal then why did Magneto need extra iron in the guys blood?

Hmm. I'm guessing writer/director fiat Maybe, as was hinted at in his conversation with Magneto, he lacks confidence in his powers. Or, he was still feeling iffy from Rogue sucking the power out of him.

Plus, they needed to generate some excuse for Nightcrawler's quick teleporting in of Rogue.

He was out of range, and it wouldn't have worked fast enough. Earlier in the movie he had to touch whatever he was freezing, and it took a few seconds for the ice wall to form in front of Wolverine. Imagine how much longer it would've taken to form something large enough to protect the plane...

Can he affect any metal, or just the magnetic metals? (There's another name, a better one, but I'll be damned if I can remember what it is... You know, the three metals that can be magnetic? Crap. It's been too long since high school chemistry. ) Anyway, it's probably because sufficient quantities of any other metal would've shown up on the scanner doohicky. And a lot of those metals are highly toxic, so the guard wouldn't have lived long enough to get in.

Well, those are just my guesses. I'm a Star Trek fan - I can rationalize anything However, I'm not too familiar with X-Men lore, so if there's a better canonical answer...

I would guess that if the Sentinels make an appearance they would be of the Termainator type. Roughly humanoid in description and virtually indestructable. This would make for a menacing enemy and would I think follow the feel of the films to this point.

Has anyone seen any teasers for the next movie?

I want to see the Genosa project. Back on X1 apparently Singer expressed his desire to make a movie using it.

Off hand, I believe that a metal must have one or two full half d shells, any overlap will retard the magnetic property. Or perhaps its the other way round, where as any metal with a full half shell is not magnetic. In any case, many metals are magnetic, I believe.

However, to answer the question, I believe iron in the guards blood would:
1) not kill him
2) not be detected otherwise from the scan

Personally I wondered why Iceman didn't just make an ice dam at the dam to keep it from flooding.

For what it's worth, I think a movie just about Wolverine could work. I'd prefer that it be 'R' rated so that his berserk rages could be properly incorporated.

Yes, Wolverine is my favorite superhero. I must admit I was initially rather dubious about Hugh Jackman playing him, but in retrospect his portrayal of the character is extremely good.

In X-Men: Evolution there was an episode that included flashback where he teamed up with Captain America in World War II. That concept would be an interesting one to explore. No claws, unfortunately.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Wolverine killed anyone in X1. When the school was attacked in X2 and he started killing the attackers I was surprised. I thought they were going to sanitize the action but was relieved to see that they didn't.
